This is a mixed arrangement usually using autumn flowers and grasses. Familiarity with a basic shoka design and its three main yakueda and proportions is important to your being able to create this design.
Please bring:
- Type A, C, D, F, G or I container with an opening large enough for a 3″ diameter kenzan or larger. Please no bronzes this time.
- We are creating two designs. Consider bringing two different containers or at least a 2nd kenzan for your 2nd design.
- A basket (see Type G containers) without handles is also appropriate, but be sure you have the right mechanics (insert) and sufficiently sized kenzan. This arrangement has many insertions and a small opening/kenzan is not recommended. See pictures of maze ike arrangements in baskets within suggested reading material.
- Pebbles to raise your kenzan to within 1/2 inch of the top edge of your container. Pebbles must be no larger than your little finger nail.
- Line material and all flowers will be provided for this lesson.
- Check the Resources page of this website for a list of what to bring to class.
- Your lunch or a snack.
