The Naples Chapter of Ikenobo was chartered as a chapter in 2001; before 2001 it was an organized study group for several years. Currently, the chapter has about 50 members. Dues for the chapter are $35 for students and $55 for teachers. We offer approximately two lessons per month from November through April. The chapter also hosts two social events each year; a fall coffee and an annual luncheon to award certificates to students as they progress in their Ikenobo learning.
Unfortunately, for the 2020-21 season we will have lessons on Zoom until at least January 2021. We are not able to have our usual Fall Coffee or Certificate Luncheon and it is doubtful that the Visiting Professor workshop scheduled for March will take place.
We have two highly qualified senseis (teachers) within our chapter teaching Ikenobo to our members, Stephanie English and Marcia Norberg. In addition, other Ikenobo senseis come to us during the season to offer additional instruction. These senseis include visiting professors from other chapters and from Ikenobo headquarters in Japan. Our lessons cost between $45 and $60 and we generally make two arrangements. We meet on Wednesdays at the Collier County Park District facility in the Vineyards community. We arrive at 9:30AM to set up and begin our lessons at 9:45AM. We enjoy a brown bag lunch together and begin to depart around 2PM.
